PROTÉGÉ
Through serving the protégé population, we believe that every child has the potential to become a leader. Our mission is to mentor elementary school children by providing them with essential real-world skills often overlooked in traditional education. These skills, including entrepreneurship, financial literacy, sustainability, and philanthropy, are crucial for their early development and growth as well-rounded individuals. Today’s schools frequently miss the opportunity to teach these vital concepts, and we are committed to changing that. According to UNICEF about 3/4 children are missing the skills that are needed for basic careers.
Through structured mentorship programs and hands-on experiences, we aim to create a nurturing environment where children can explore, learn, and grow. Whether it’s through an outdoor lab or hosting a harvest festival, our projects will empower kids to become valuable contributors to their communities.
The Curriculum
We have built a 12 unit curriculum that teaches the essential real-world skills, needed for every basic career. This curriculum will be broken into 4 different modules that fall under the key concepts, Capitalism, Philanthropy, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainability.
CAPITALISM
Protege will learn how to price their crops and manage their costs and revenue.
PHILANTHROPY
Profits from the garden will go to providing school supplies for peers in need.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Protege will create their own business models and host an end of the year event that demonstrates the skills they have learned
SUSTAINABILITY
Protege will learn about water conservation, waste management and how to maintain their projects long term.
GARDEN PROJECT
Our garden program goes hand-in-hand with our curriculum, creating a dynamic, hands-on learning experience that brings real-world concepts to life. By actively engaging students in planting, growing, and maintaining the garden, we will seamlessly integrate lessons on skills that employers frequently say people are missing. As they nurture the garden, students apply sustainability practices, understanding ecosystems and conservation.
FARMERS MARKET
The Protégé will apply what they have learned from the curriculum and prepare to host a community Farmers Market, where they will sell their produce. The profits from the market will be reinvested into the following year’s harvest, promoting the cycle of sustainability and entrepreneurship. Any remaining funds will be used to purchase school supplies for children in need, fostering a sense of philanthropy and community responsibility.
