PEDIATRIC CANCER
Every 3 minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide. Each year, the parents of approximately 15,700 parents will hear, "your child has cancer." $279,648 is the average cost of full cancer treatment for children (NIH). Kids Helping Kids invests in the lives of these families to relieve the financial burdens of travel costs, food, and lodging costs. We believe in instilling hope and providing care to Kids and families affected by pediatric cancer, financial concerns should never impact the decisions a parent has to make regarding the treatment of their child.
TO DATE, KIDS HELPING KIDS HAS DONATED OVER $230,000 TO FAMILIES AFFECTED BY PEDIATRIC CANCER.
Our Innovation
Kids Helping Kids plans on launching our campaign United Against Pediatric Cancer to 12 different high schools in the Sacramento area. Each school will be able to sponsor a child with pediatric cancer and have a goal of raising $1000 dollars for the child they are sponsoring. The campaign at each school will last 2 weeks. We have partnered with SchoolFundr which is the home base for our campaign and allows students and parents to contribute digitally. On our SchoolFundr website, there will be a QR code that students will be able to scan and a page where they can send 5 messages of our link to adults they know personally. Through our campaign we plan on giving every student at the schools a chance to have a direct impact on a sick child's life.
